Peripheral equipment plays an auxiliary, yet crucial role in diagnostic and surgical endoscopy. It allows unobstructed access to the operating field, gives the doctor a good view and helps to monitor and control the most important physiological parameters.

Olympus peripheral equipment is presented in the NOVIRS catalogue in three categories:
 - aspiration equipment, which is used to remove tissues, gases, surgical and physiological fluids during and after surgery;
 - irrigation equipment, which allows for rapid flushing of the surgical field; 
 - insufflation equipment, which is used to inject gas into the patient's hollow organs.

The equipment can be additionally equipped with sensors for monitoring intra-abdominal and intrauterine pressure.
